DUNSTER SHOW provides a unique opportunity to see the best of Somerset farming and livestock. It also has some of the best entertainment in West Somerset and is a fun filled day out for all the family.

Dunster Show is the premier Agricultural Show in West Somerset and one of the major one day shows of the West of England.
Dunster Show takes place annually on the third Friday in August at Dunster Castle Lawns adjacent to the A39 near MINEHEAD. A beautiful setting with Dunster Castle perched on a hill behind providing a dramatic backdrop.
This year’s show on August 17th will be the 166th to be held and promises to be the best yet.
Showing of livestock is a major part of the show with classes for HORSES CATTLE and SHEEP. Entertainment is laid on all day with Bands, Demonstrations, Crafts and Trade Stands, providing something for all the family.

HORSE SHOW
Over 500 horses enter for the many varied classes which include
Hunters, Hacks, Child’s Ponies, Leading Rein, Mares and Foals, Coloureds, Arabs, Appaloosas. Miniature, Exmoors, Fell and Dales, SHP, HOYS, BSPS and NPS.
qualifiers.
There will a Grand Parade of Prizewinners and Pony Club Games in the main ring. Some pony classes are Qualifying rounds for the Horse Of The Year Show.
CATTLE SHOW
High standard of cattle on show including
Local Red Devons, also Aberdeen Angus, British Blue, Simmental, Longhorn, Dexters, Fatstock and Rare Breeds. There are classes for calves and for Young Cattle Handlers under 12 years of age.
SHEEP SHOW
Over 300 sheep expected with strong entries of local breeds Devon Closewool and Exmoor Horn. Others include Suffolk, Texel, Charollais, Zwartbles, Cross Breds, Jacob and other Rare Breeds. There is also a young handlers competition for the under twelves.
There will be a parade of Cattle and Sheep prizewinners in the Main Ring.

MAIN RING
Entertainment in the MAIN RING for 2012 includes

THE NATIONAL FESTIVAL CIRCUS gives free circus entertainment for all ages.
TRADE STANDS
Hundreds of TRADE STANDS selling a wide variety of quality goods including Country Wear, Jewelry, Baskets, Books, Pictures and local crafts. Many Charity Stalls and Local Organisations present. Trade stand details can be found here.
REFRESHMENTS
A Variety of FOOD STALLS around the Village Green area, a BEER TENT and STYLES FARM ICE CREAM.
